Penedo do Caldeirão
Located around three hundred meters to the southwest of the Penedo da Maria Angélica, which stands out from all the granite mole of the mountain because its cracks resemble a giant “T”, it is rightly considered to be the most feared and mysterious crag in the Esmolfe parish rim, as it served as a lair and breeding ground for wolves, as was proven in 1968, and because of the stories that arose from this and which still feed our imagination.
Inside you'll find the donkey's store, the dark room and the balcony, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the entire valley that forms the Barroca do Ribeiro basin. It may well have served as a shelter for man as a hunter and gatherer.
Access to this boulder is on a dirt track and is located very close to the Penedo do Cavalinho.
